The sun sets behind Tantallon castle (as seen from Seacliff beach) in the summer months. The great seaweed covered rocks really catch my eye every time I visit this beach and make for an interesting foreground, at all tide levels..

As the tide was going out this rock and the rippled sand made for a great foreground, with the Bass Rock on the horizon. After many heavy showers, the weather turned an hour before sunset, and what a beautiful sunset this was!

The Longniddry shipwreck near Longniddry Bents as the tide is going out. It was quite foggy, which meant that the shores of Fife across the estuary are not visible, adding to the surreal and minimalist effect I was after.

About

I am a landscape photographer based in Voorburg, The Netherlands. As a biologist by training, I am passionate about the outdoors in general, and wild areas more specifically. As a keen hiker, and having lived in Edinburgh for several years, much of my recent photography was currently done at higher levels in the Scottish Highlands, but I do occasionally branch out to the valleys and the coast.
